About Us
Ruby Bridges Elementary School is a public TK-5th grade school in the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD).
Home of the Stars
Our beautiful new campus opened in 2006 with civil rights icon, Ms. Ruby Bridges, coming to our dedication. We celebrate our diversity, value educational achievement, and take pride in being the future. In addition to a fabulous staff, we have an active hardworking PTA and two afterschool programs. We have a variety of intervention and enrichment programs to help meet the needs of every student. Our Innovative Plan focuses on the Whole-Child in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and Wellness as we enter the fourth year of implementation. Our students can learn the responsibilities of peer leadership by being on Junior Coaches, STEAM team, Student Council, and more. When you come visit our school you will see engaged learners and enthusiastic teachers!
Who is Ruby Bridges?
Ms. Ruby Bridges is a Civil Rights Leader. In 1960, when little Ruby was only six years old, she became one of the first black children to integrate New Orleans’ all white public school system. Greeted by an angry mob and escorted by federal marshals, Ruby bravely crossed the threshold of this school and into history single-handedly initiating the desegregation of New Orleans’ public schools. We are honored to carry on her legacy in our school community !
Our Vision
At Ruby Bridges we are committed to every student's potential by teaching to the whole child and holding high expectations.
