Kindergarten at a Glance

WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD PRACTICE AT HOME

In August, students should practice letters, letter sounds, rhyming, counting to 10, and writing numbers to 10.

In November, students should continue to practice letters, letter sounds, sight words, writing a simple sentence, and writing numbers to 20.

In January, students should continue to practice writing a simple sentence, continue sight words, read a simple book with sight words, and work on adding to 10.

In March, students should be able to read an A/B book independently, writing 1-2 sentences on the same topic, adding and subtracting with number bonds.

In May, students should know all the letters and letter sounds, read C/D book independently, write 2-3 sentences on the same topic, adding and subtract fluently to 10.
